Mac OS X Courses

These Mac OS X courses cover a range of topics from the very simple to the advanced issues facing all Mac users. The courses cover the applications that come when you buy your Mac such as Contacts, Safari, TextEdit, Preview, etc., setting up your Mac initially, how to organize your dock and desktop, connecting to the Internet and many other topics. Whether you are a first time user, a switcher from Windows to Mac, or even a long time Mac users; all will find something new and useful in these courses.

None of these courses is a prerequisite to another.

The Intro to OS X course will teach you the basics of using your Mac from pointing and clicking to the desktop, from the applications that come with your Mac to the essential ones you need to get your work done. By the end of this course you will be able to…

Use the Mac and mouse to effectively navigate OS X
Organize files into folders and organize them within your Home folder
Use Spotlight to find documents based on title, date created or modified, or content
Organize your dock to access your most often used applications easily
Change the appearance of OS X and change your desktop and screensaver
Go through the various system preferences and set them according to how you want your computer to look and respond
Update your software

This half day course will cover some of the important points of using your Mac including the major software included with your Mac, how to connect your Mac to a network,

In addition to those listed above for the Intro to OS X course by the end of this course you will be able to…

Set up and manage individual user accounts
Back up your computer using Time Machine
Exchange documents with other computers both Macs and Windows
Set up and organize the Finder toolbar at the top of each open window
Identify and use the various settings in the System Preferences
Introduction to Pages, Numbers and Keynote as well as Microsoft Office

This full day course covers many of the topics that are just touched upon in the Intro and Basic Courses. This course covers those in even greater details as well as introduce new concepts such as editing audio and video, cloud computing and basic troubleshooting.

By the end of this course you will be able to…

Perform all the objectives of the Intro and Basic courses listed above
Use Garageband (audio editing), iPhoto (images), and iMovie (video editing)
Use some of the more advanced features of Pages, Numbers and Keynote as well as Microsoft Office
Use some of the basic features of Automator and an introduction to Applescript
Perform basic troubleshooting to determine a solution when problems arise

The 4 day OS X Mastery course covers almost everything you would need to know about using a Mac computer. This course covers everything the previous listed courses cover plus a more in depth look at AppleScript, advanced troubleshooting, utilities for fixing problems, unix commend and the terminal, and more.

By the end of this course you will be able to…

Use advanced features of the included applications such as Preview, TextEdit, Contacts, iCal, etc.
Use advanced features of Pages, Numbers and Keynote
